The ambassadors of France and Egypt separately visited the rector of Goce Delchev University and discussed possible cooperation between their institutions and UGD.
The French Ambassador to Macedonia, Christian Thimonier, noted that they plan to offer assistance not only in the study of French language and culture, but also in student exchange programs between the two countries.
“I am particularly glad that I have visited this modern university today. It is modern both according to operating conditions, and the ambience as well. Today we talked with the rector about the possibilities for development of the French language learning within the University. Language proficiency means openness to the world for the Macedonians and for the students. We talked about some areas where France is more advanced, it is agriculture and the arts, and we are ready to exchange knowledge and students in these areas”, noted the French Ambassador, Christian Thimonier.
The rector of UGD, Prof. Dr. Blazho Boev, emphasized the willingness of the University to correlate with France and the francophone institutions.
“We continue the traditionally good collaboration with France in the area of education, science and research. The ambassador was interested in establishing start-up organizations for the development of the University, and we also talked about working together with universities in France. There is also an opportunity for student exchange program between French universities and UGD,” underlined the rector of UGD, Prof. Dr. Boev.
Besides the Ambassador of France, the Ambassador of Egypt to Macedonia placed in Sofia, Manal Jehia Shenawi visited the University Goce Delchev. The Ambassador stressed that she have received information that UGD offers quality education and came to see if there was prospect for cooperation between the Egyptian institutions and UGD.
“I have heard about your University and its faculties and thought it was a good idea to see if there's possibility for teamwork. In Egypt, we have many good universities and I think it is a good opportunity to get to know UGD and see how we can set up cooperation. I am familiar with the Faculty of Medicine, which is very prosperous school of medicine and I think we can open the door for interaction in these fields, as well as in art and literature”, stressed the Egyptian Ambassador to Macedonia in Sofia, Manal Jehia Shenawi.
The rector of UGD noted that the University has an excellent international collaboration with other institutions and through these visits the cooperation only deepens and improves. These visits will in future be specified in contracts and mutual projects.
